ThePontiac Catalina lasted for more than three decades, from 1950โ€“1981. From 1950โ€“1958, the Catalina was only available as a trim option for the Pontiac Chieftain, Pontiac Super Chief (from 1954 on) and Star Chief. Originally, from 1950โ€“1954, the Catalina used Pontiacโ€™s 268 cid straight-eight engine making about 120 horsepower. Thedeck height is differnt and the intake runners on the manifold are siamesed. The only parts that interchange are the carb, timing cover, and valve cover. All of the other parts are 301 specific and dont interchange with any engine including the 301 turbo. THE 301 IS A PILE, GET a L78/W72 400. Theengine is the 301 cubic inch 2 barrel that produced 140 horsepower. The car has only been driven 57,500 miles, mostly in the summer. It has a Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission. The original spare and jack remain with the car and have never been removed.
