ThePontiac Catalina lasted for more than three decades, from 1950–1981. From 1950–1958, the Catalina was only available as a trim option for the Pontiac Chieftain, Pontiac Super Chief (from 1954 on) and Star Chief. Originally, from 1950–1954, the Catalina used Pontiac’s 268 cid straight-eight engine making about 120 horsepower.
Thedeck height is differnt and the intake runners on the manifold are siamesed. The only parts that interchange are the carb, timing cover, and valve cover. All of the other parts are 301 specific and dont interchange with any engine including the 301 turbo. THE 301 IS A PILE, GET a L78/W72 400.
